DRAPING - ONLINE
WHAT IS DRAPAGE?
It is the process of shaping the fabric on a live person or a lifeless mannequin. The pattern of the garment models can be obtained by draping with paper and/or fabric on a live or lifeless mannequin. The process done with this technique is called draping technique.
SITUATIONS THAT REQUIRE DRAPING WORK
Model feature
Some models (draped, asymmetrical, etc.) are difficult or quite challenging to create using the cutting method. Creating the patterns of such models using the draping method makes the job easier.
See the full model
The draping technique is also used to see how a desired design will look on a mannequin.
In disproportionate bodies
It is quite difficult to apply mold and cut on some bodies. For example; body height, hip drop are not proportional to the body, too fat or too thin or there are differences between the right and left sides of the body. In such cases, it is more advantageous to use the draping technique.
To do rehearsal and control exercises
Draping is practiced to practice rehearsal and control.
